WiFi Weekly helps people choose, set up and fix their home networks. Every article should answer a real question, be accurate, and show where its facts come from.

## How each article is labeled

We label every product article by how it was made, near the top of the page.

- **Research-based.** Built from manufacturer specifications and documentation, standards bodies such as the Wi-Fi Alliance and the IEEE, FCC records, and named outside test results. We say plainly that we did not test the product ourselves.
- **Explainer.** Explains a technology, feature or setting, without judging a specific product's performance.
- **Tested.** Used only when one of our named writers has physically tested the product. Tested reviews follow our [testing method](https://wifiweekly.com/how-we-test/) and record the hardware version, firmware, test date, location and conditions.

We never invent speed, range or latency results, testing experiences, prices or specifications. A product we haven't tested does not get a numerical score.

## Sources and fact-checking

- We go to primary sources first: standards bodies, the FCC, manufacturer specification and support pages, and internet providers' own documentation.
- We check model numbers, hardware versions and regional differences, because products with similar names can have different specifications.
- Every article ends with a Sources list. Most also include a **Fact-check notes** table showing the key claims, where each came from, and whether it was verified or qualified.
- If we can't verify a claim, we leave it out or say clearly that it's unconfirmed. We don't present rumors as news.
- We quote prices only when they are current and checked, and we show the date.

## Dates and updates

Every article shows when it was published. When we change the substance of an article, we update the date and, for significant changes, add a note saying what changed.

## Independence

Manufacturers, retailers and advertisers do not see, approve or edit our articles before publication. We buy or borrow products on our own terms, and a free review unit does not buy coverage or a recommendation.

## How we make money

WiFi Weekly is paid for by display advertising, affiliate links and clearly labeled sponsored posts.

- **Affiliate links.** If you buy through some links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide what we recommend. See our [affiliate disclosure](https://wifiweekly.com/affiliate-disclosure/).
- **Advertising.** Ads are separate from editorial content, and advertisers have no say in our coverage.
- **Sponsored posts.** We accept sponsored posts. Every one is labeled "Sponsored" at the top of the article and names the sponsor. Sponsored posts must still be accurate and useful to readers, and we don't sell editorial reviews, rankings or recommendations.

## Contributors and guest posts

We publish articles from outside writers when they meet the same standards as our own work. See [write for us](https://wifiweekly.com/write-for-us/). Every article names its writer, and we don't use invented names or credentials.

## Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it as soon as we confirm the error, and log significant corrections publicly. See [corrections](https://wifiweekly.com/corrections/).
