Is eero Plus Worth It? What You Get in 2026

Is eero Plus worth it? At $99.99 a year, yes if you'd use its VPN, 1Password, Malwarebytes or filters. Your eero still gets security updates without it.

In our view, eero Plus is worth it if you’ll actually use at least two of the services bundled into it: a VPN for your phones, a family password manager, antivirus, or eero’s content filters and app blocking. At $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year in the US (eero’s price on October 31, 2026), it’s a bundle, not a network upgrade. If you only want fast, secure Wi-Fi, skip it: eero says Plus is not required for your network to keep getting security updates, and profiles, schedules and device pausing are free.

This guide is based on eero’s own pricing and support pages. We have not tested eero Plus; check the current price in the eero app before you subscribe, because it can change.

What eero Plus costs

eero lists two US plans:

PlanPriceFree trial
Monthly$9.99/monthOne month
Annual$99.99/yearTwo months

Both auto-renew until you cancel. Paying annually works out to $8.33 a month, about 17% less than monthly ($119.88 a year). eero’s support page lists other regions too: Canada $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year, and the UK £9.99 or £99.99.

A footnote on eero’s Plus page says “Wi-Fi 6 or later eero devices only.” If you still run an older eero, check the app before you pay.

What you already get free

Every eero network includes these without a subscription, according to eero’s July 21, 2026 parental controls post, which says “every eero system comes with core Parental Controls built right into the app at no additional cost”:

  • Profiles that group a person’s devices
  • Basic Wi-Fi schedules to pause a profile at bedtime or dinner
  • One-tap pausing of any device
  • A list of every connected device, with an option to block new ones automatically
  • Controls for unknown (unassigned) devices, including pausing them or assigning them to a profile

And on security, eero’s “What is eero Plus?” page states that Plus “is not required for an eero network to continue to receive our security updates.”

What eero Plus adds

Network features (inside the eero app)

  • Content filters: block categories such as adult content and violence per profile, with SafeSearch and YouTube Restricted Mode.
  • App blocking and custom site lists: block specific apps, or set allowed and blocked websites per profile.
  • Ad blocking: eero says its ad blocking works at the DNS level.
  • Advanced Security (Active Threat Protection): blocks known malicious sites, such as phishing pages.
  • Historical data usage and network insights.
  • DDNS for reaching home devices remotely by hostname.
  • Hotspot Backup: switches your network to a phone hotspot or another Wi-Fi network when your main internet goes down.
  • Priority support and management of up to five networks from one account.

eero notes that some of these, including the DNS-based filters, historical data usage and Hotspot Backup, don’t work when an eero is in bridge mode. If your eero sits behind another router in bridge mode, you’ll lose those network-level features, though the partner apps below still apply. Our bridge mode guide explains when that setup makes sense.

Partner services

ServiceWhat eero says you get
VPN powered by GuardianUp to 5 devices; protects your phone or tablet “when you’re off your eero network”
1PasswordA 1Password Family membership for up to 5 users
MalwarebytesAntivirus on up to 20 devices, plus Identity Protection with dark web monitoring and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance

Two details matter. First, the VPN is for your devices away from home; it doesn’t route your whole home network through a VPN. Each device you enable counts toward the five, and eero says disconnecting a device doesn’t free its slot; you revoke access in your Guardian account. Second, these are tied to Plus. For 1Password, eero says your 1Password “plan will end when your eero Plus subscription ends,” so cancelling later means moving to a paid 1Password plan or switching password managers.

eero Signal changes the math

eero Signal is eero’s cellular backup box. On eero’s US store on October 31, 2026, the 4G LTE model was $99.99 and the 5G RedCap model showed $179.99 against $199.99. It needs a data plan, and eero says that comes through an annual Plus subscription: “monthly subscription plans are incompatible with eero Signal.” Annual Plus includes up to 10 GB of backup data a year.

eero also offers eero Plus 100, with up to 100 GB of backup data a month. eero’s shop page lists it at $99.99 for the first year, then $199.99 a year; its support page lists $99 and $199. Check the app for the current figure. New eero Signal purchases include six months of eero Plus.

Is it worth it for you?

You are…Verdict
A household that wants a working, updated network and nothing elseSkip it. Updates and basic controls are free.
A parent who needs category filters, app blocking or blocked sitesWorth considering. Those features need Plus. Compare alternatives in our parental controls router guide.
Already paying for a VPN, password manager or antivirus you likeProbably not, unless you’d cancel those and switch.
Not paying for any of those yet, and would use two or moreGood value: one $99.99 bill covers all of them.
Buying eero Signal for backup internetYou’ll need an annual plan for the backup data anyway.
Running eero in bridge modeOnly for the partner apps. Filters, data history and Hotspot Backup don’t work in bridge mode.

If ad blocking is the only draw, a free alternative is to point your router at a filtering DNS service; see our guide to changing router DNS.
